MOORE COLLEGE OF ART AND DESIGN: The Center For Emerging Visual Artists - Intro ‘07 02/13/07 - 02/26/07

Go back to school. Art school. The Moore College of Art and Design to be exact, where  you can see works from CFEVA’s new Artist Fellows. The exhibit will feature works from Julia Blaukopf (photography), Anne Canfield (painting), Darla Jackson (sculpture), Joelle Jensen (photography), Jedediah Morfit (sculpture), Caleb Nussear (painting), Tara O’Brien (book arts), Serena Perrone (printmaking, drawing, and painting), Matthew Neff (painting), and Cory Wagner (mixed media and sculpture). And me (comics). Something for everyone. The opening reception is scheduled for 02/15/07 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM. It’s all happening at 20th Street and The Parkway.

WOODMERE ART MUSEUM: The 67th Annual Juried Exhibition 01/27/07 - 03/04/07

Not only does Hiro Sakaguchi compose beautiful paintings that allow you to momentarily forget your whereabouts but he also invites his friends to share in his creative process. 36 friends and counting. Generosity and creativity, traits that are seldom connected but both can be located at 9201 Germantown Avenue, where Hiro’s work will be featured in the Emerging Artists Series. The exhibit will feature Hiro’s paintings, his signature cellphone series, as well as the Picture Journal Project. The Picture Journal Project includes 36 contributing artists (myself included) who documented a day utilizing a “picture journal” page (an example can be  found here. The opening reception is Saturday, January 27 from 5 to 7 PM.

JUMP START: Launching an Artists’ Book Collection at the Free Library of Philadelphia 12/15/06 - 02/03/07

Bookworms: (1) Go to the Free Library of Philadelphia (1901 Vine Street); (2) Check out Harry & Zeke Go Fishing and Biblio (Genevieve Coutroubis and Elysa Voshell) as well as works displayed by 20 other artists. The exhibit is located  outside the Art and Print and Picture Departments (second floor). All work displayed in the exhibit will be included in the library’s new, permanent, artists’ book collection.
